Bio
I’m Maurizio Amendola, a writer and screenwriter born in 1985.
I grew up in Crotone. In Pisa, I studied philosophy and worked as a DJ, a wedding videographer and a football coach for young children on the outskirts of the city.
In Turin, I attended Scuola Holden: two pretty intense years of writing films and TV series, novels, comics and bits and pieces of copyright law. From that time, I remember escaping to Locarno for a workshop led by Emmanuel Carrère, where I learnt that an artist’s research can take many forms: autofiction intertwined with the story of a murderer, a serial drama with a light touch of fantasy, an intimate film swept up in psychological conflict, yoga.
I now live in Tuscany and travel often. I am studying on the European Master in Creative Writing at ArtEZ University of the Arts in Arnhem, in the Netherlands. Every so often, I retreat to my wife’s bookshop to work. At home, two cats await us: Mimì and William.
